Serenity Build

So it starts (ok well not till Jan 1st), but it still starts

Everyone knows I hate deadlines and I hate rules just as much.

But since Lynn threw down the challenge I picked it up and since

The Chopper Underground is having it's yearly Build well what the heck.

Now I am luckier than most of the guys. I don't work that much from
Dec till mid to end of March.
Which means time wise I might have an advantage of most of the guys.

Of course my shop is not heated and I don't weld all that good.
But hey that has never stopped me.

The build will be Lynns Trike

Something she has been waiting on for around 3 years.

I have most (not all) but most of the parts

I have however lost the pics of how Gougeye had the suspension set up, so this should be fun.

So heres what I am starting with

Now I have always like this trike

Now I'm not saying that Serenity will even come close to looking like

the Half-Breed, but it would be nice.

So thats where I'm at , at the start of this madness.

Update

so I learned a couple new things this week

1st: the rear wheel hubs are Ford not Chevy

2nd: I now know what a KEY WAY is

I also got a set of wheels this week. Don't know if I will use them or if Lynn will
like them .We will find out when they get here

We also have a swap meet here in OKC this Sunday if the weather dose not

make them cancel it then we will be looking for her front wheel.

Jan 1st update

Time to start this build

But things happen

front wheel isnt here yet

rear wheels are still being acid dipped

top plate has been said to be here 3 weeks ago

2 weeks ago

this week

is no being said to be here next week

I figure that one out as I go

not doing any work on it today day 2

temps are going to be in the 4 degrees to 35 degrees

could run more parts today

we will see

Jan 8th

Finally got to do some work on the build

It's a good thing all I want from this is to get it done

not trying to win the race or have the best build

just finish it

So I needed to remove the stem on Lynns springer

but because it's been so cold the metal had expanded

so I brought it into the house and well

Gave it a hot bath to heat up the metal

since the chrome is really nice I didn't want to take a torch to it

Then I got started on doing some cutting and grinding on the frame

Ok since I'm stuck on which way to go with the rear setup

I have pulled out of the BBO

so now it's just updates as I move along on this beast

decided to stay in the build off

did a little work today

mainly got new wheels

and got the rear end situated

Jan 24th Update
ok got tires Tuesday of this week
so heres a few pictures

So I'm finally ready to get the motor put in
All I have to do is get the kid over here to help
Cause I aint as young as I used to be (LOL)

Also was wanting to put mooneyes on the rear wheels
but they don't make them to fit 17's and if they did
they would not work on the wheels I bought
so I made my own

Cause I dont own a vise

Well it worked

But now the front end collapsed after putting the motor in
I guess with no top plate to hold everything together the weight
pushed down on the stem and bent it
with no one close to help like most of the other guys
I guess I'm stuck trying to figure out where to go from here.

so I figured it out
went lookin for someone local to help with the stem
But I have decided to lose the springer
and go with what I know
so I took a set of Honda trees and a HD tree
and had a 1 inch stem made and welded in the Honda trees
and guess what this guy got it right the first time and I had it back in 5 days
so heres the new look and now I can get back at it

So pulled out the headlights that we had bought around 2 years ago
when we were in Ill for the last Hunnet car pile up
dont know what they came off of but we do know what they are
going on

So tings have not worked out the way I wanted
But then again when does it (LOL)
I wont make the TCU deadline but I am still working on it
so It's March 23 2014 and 8 days away from the deadline

Well shes back from the welders
and it's time to get back at it
first thing is first make the brake stays
and run brake lines
I ordered banjo bolts and a reg/rec from Lowrider Tommy today
got the brake stays done
Tommy has told me that he has tried a hand brake on a trike before
and it has not worked well
but you know me I still got to try it
took the seat pan to have it covered to David Lee
look forward to seeing done.
My goal is to have her going and stopping by Dec 12th
so we can take her to Guthire for the Victorian Walk
if not on the 12th last chance is Dec 19th
While I wait for the bolts I will start getting oil lines ran
and wire the lights and motor
We have a big cold front moving in so it's gong to get interesting
