Thought I would share this pic
This IS the reason Lynn and I ride alone

Friday, May 15, 2015

So here we are 5 days back from Lynn's Moonthers day ride 2015 and it's time to post up some videos and pic's.
Now we did 3 states (Oklahoma , Texas , New Mexico)
We left on Friday May 8th and rode thru the fog to Weatherford Oklahoma and Breakfast at Lucille's just off of I-40 the on to Roswell with an hour and a half lay over in Conway Texas
due to a rain storm with a hail core and hail baseball size headed our way. After the hail core past we got back on Skull in the rain and headed on. The rest of the way to Roswell we had zero problems with Skull but we were fighting a strong head wind all the way. We got to Roswell to the Western Inn checked in and headed off on foot to find a place to eat supper. After supper it was shower and sack out time. We were up early Saturday morning we walked across the street for breakfast at IHOP cause Lynn likes here IHOP and it's her weekend (LOL). Lynn wanted to check out some of the space stuff downtown but nothing was open and she was bored and ready to hit the road. So we set off to run the 57 miles to Lincoln New Mexico. Still strong head winds but lots of twisties and cool places to stop and take pic's. Lynn thought we were just going to Lincoln and hang out and check out the Billy the Kid stuff, but she was in for a surprise.
We visited 4 churches, 5 cemeteries an Iris farm and went up to Capitan  to check out the Smoky the Bear museum and she had a steak at The Silver Dollar Steak House in Tinnie New Mexico.
It was a great ride 2 days of long riding 1,100 miles and being a tourist Saturday another 100 miles or so.
So heres 3 videos
Enjoy

Lynn has this thing when she focuses on something it takes up alot of video space.
Sometimes it's Hawks, cows , butterflies etc.
On this trip it was trains , and as we rolled thru Hereford Texas there were tons of
trains so here ya go a train video.

We left out of Lincoln New Mexico 10 am Oklahoma time
we made it to OKC at 7pm
this is just a short video of the ride home

As we get ready to head out Friday Morn to Roswell and Lincoln New Mexico

We went riding this weekend
And almost got killed by a horse
Is how the story starts. Cause lets face it how good can a story be if it starts out
We spent time on the porch this weekend or I worked out in the shop this weekend.
The date was May the 2nd and this was our pre mothers day ride.
We decided to chase the rising sun and head east to Lake Eufaula and parts south.
Now we took Voyager because she is our spring and fall bike.
But we still spent 12 hours on the road and put 435 miles on her.
We took out and headed east on I-40 and to the lake 140 miles from home.
Besides checking out the lake we were also going to check out some of the cemeteries out this way, yeah that didn't work out to well. Seems there are signs pointing the way but not letting you know where they are after the first turn, we spent an hour out in the middle of nowhere looking for one. After that it was time to ride and play, research can be done another time.

Our first stop was gas and then find a place to eat breakfast, with the help of a local a breakfast place was found
Yep I Smell Bacon was what it was called
and yes they had bacon and sausage and ham!
we took some time and rode around some of the lake

As we were making our way around the lake Lynn seen a sign that said Stigler 30 miles and she ask what was in Stigler, I said I don't know so we headed off to find out.
We never made it ti Stigler so I we may never know, we headed south out of Whitefield on hwy 2. which had some kick ass twisties.

As we went further south it dawned on me we were close to Robbers Cave a place we hadn't been to in a few years as a matter of fact the last time we were here we spent the night and woke up Sunday morn to a light frost and 28 degrees. So going back in the spring should be nice.
We rode thru a small town named Kinta
We decided to give looking for a cemetery one more try.
That didn't work out to well either. We did meet  Naomie who was 90 and lived in this part of Oklahoma all her life. She lives at the foot of Tucker Nob. A nob is what Okies call small mtns that
are flat on top.
She told us a story of how her dad and his friends would play on the nob during recess at school and how they would see how far they could make up the nob during the time they had. She said they never made it to the top while they were at school but the boys did spend many a summer night camping at the top. She pointed toward where the school is or at least whats left of it.
We said our goodbyes and headed off.

Robbers cave was on our minds so we hit the road with a little speed under us.

We spent a few hours playing walking and do what old people should not do
climbing the side of a cliff.

The wall
Lynn taking pics at the bottom
 Time to climb

Lynns at the bottom and trying to figure out how shes going to climb up
Now of course I don't have pic's of her climbing up
cause I was keeping my eyes on her and had to help pull her up

The view

Lynn playin on The Devils Slide

Yep we had a blast but it was getting time to head home
and I was gettin hungry.

WHAT?
Oh what about the first picture?
Hmmmmmm
this hasn't been story enough
Ok
So heres the story about the first picture

Here we are taking it nice and slow through the park
I mean Voyager is a quite bike Ok unless the radio is cranked up,
which it wasn't and heres proof

I mean really we were being nice and quite no dogs or horses freaking out.
we are taking it nice and slow with cars behind us and horses and cars coming the other way toward us.
BUT this guy and his horses well I have no idea what the heck was going on

I do know I don't ride like this guy , the leads are not being held right and in the last pic
they are almost touching the ground. This was close enough I could see the right hoof of the horse
slide on the pavement and if I wasn't watching he would have hit us with his front hoofs. I pulled up and headed to the shoulder which there wasn't much of. Both lanes of cars stopped till he got the horse under control.
So here 2 more pic's of the next horse that came down the road just to show you it wasn't Voyager.

So that's the story of how we almost got killed by a horse on a beautiful Saturday in SE  Oklahoma.
